Matsunosuke authored many books during the first half of the twentieth century, including a practice book for art students with pictures and flowers and birds. Entitled Shinsen Mōhitsu Etehon Kachō No Bu (i.e., Practice Book of Newly Selected Brush Paintings Flower-and-Bird Part) and published in 1912, it was printed using some extremely bright oil-based inks instead of the traditional muted, water-based inks. While novel, this printing method apparently had limited appeal because no additional flower-and-bird picture books were published using this printing technique. The sixteen pictures included in this unique flower-and-bird picture book are shown here. Click on a picture to enlarge it.
